Sony BDP-N460 Blu-ray Disc Player
Sony BDP-N460 Blu-ray Disc Player
The Basics
The BDP-N460 is a Blu-ray player released by Sony in October of 2009. It is a direct response to the critics that felt that some of Sony’s players were lacking on features beyond basic Blu-ray playback. At around $250 you can now get one of Sony’s top of the line Blu-ray which offers brilliant picture and sound quality, as well as extra features like online digital video streaming.
Video and Sound
This Blu-ray player has full 1080p HD picture quality and the now standard feature of upscaling existing DVD format discs to near HD quality. The BDP-N460 also has Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding built in. This will allow the utmost sound quality and full 7.1 high definition sound when connected to home theater receivers that support them.
Extra Features
This model does have a built in ethernet port, so full BD-Live features and online firmware updating are available with an internet connection. The BDP-N460 also uses the network connection to stream digital media straight to your TV. Currently you can access Youtube and Netflix’s insta-queue streaming features with a broadband connection, with the possibility of more to be offered with future updates. While the BDP-N460 doesn’t offer a built in wi-fi adapter, it does support an external adapter that can be added on.
