The Panasonic DMR-EA18K up-converts standard definition data to 1080 x 1920p HD format video. This results in an increased richness in viewing by almost six times. This DVD unit includes four recording modes; SP fits 2 hours; LP fits 4 hours; and EP which fits 8 hours of video. It can record on most DVD formats including DVD-RAM.
Features
Panasonic included a feature called flexible recording on the DMR-EA18K. It allows for recording longer movies or programs without sacrificing video quality. A user can record content in a higher video quality setting such as SP even if it is longer than 2 hours. The DMR-EA18K will fill an entire DVD at this higher quality setting then optimize the video after completion, eliminating the need for an additional disk.
Another important feature Panasonic incorporated within this model is called chasing playback. It enables you to watch a program from the beginning even if it is still in the recording process. This aspect allows the DVD recording function to be used as a quasi DVR replacement.
